The Founding of SAFE

SAFE started as the "SAFE Project" back in 1997 by a woman named Cammie Sanders.  Cammie created this as a community service project for a beauty pageant she was involved in.  After completion of her project, she realized how important this was for children in her area and SAFE was born!  In 2004, Cammie was no longer able to continue being in charge of SAFE so a woman named Cheryl Famigletti took it over, but in 2009, Cheryl was unable to continue as the head of SAFE and needed to step down.  At that time, I (Jennifer Alloy) was a chapter member with SAFE and was offered the awesome responsibility of continuing this wonderful organization!  


For the past 8 years, myself and our volunteers have grown SAFE through our website, word of mouth, and social media and in October of 2015, we obtained our 501(c)(3) status and officially became a tax-deductible nonprofit.

SAFE Mission

Our mission is to provide comfort to children in traumatic or emergency situations through donations of stuffed animals, blankets, books, children's clothes, and baby items. By doing this, we hope to help these children feel safe and cared for during an incredibly stressful event in their lives.

Moving Forward

Our goal moving forward is to be the source where people can donate their new and/or gently used children's items so that they can be used to comfort other children who need them and not thrown away.

Your support and contributions will enable us to continue supporting children in need.  SAFE is run entirely by volunteers so 100% of your donations will go towards maintaining the SAFE website, getting donations in the hands of children, and supporting our chapter members.

Please send an email to help@safe-inc.org and I will get back with you in 1-2 business days.  You will receive an auto-reply with answers to some of the most common questions I receive.  If your question is answered in this auto-reply, I will not be responding to your email because as the National Director of SAFE, I am focused on finding new chapter members and finding more places for you to take your donations so we can help even more children.  Most of the common questions I receive are all answered on the website already.  I appreciate your understanding!

Having trouble finding a chapter member near you?

All active chapters of SAFE are listed on the Chapters page of the website.  If you do not see one near you, we apologize but this is all we have currently.  We are always adding more chapters so please stay up to date with SAFE by subscribing to our newsletter on the front page of the site, checking out our social media pages, or just checking back on this page periodically.  If you are willing to clean any gently used donations though, please visit our Urgent Needs and/or Drives pages for more info on how you can help.
